I’m Ashleigh, also known as Murple Meeple or 8 Bit Canvas, and I’m the creator of this site and all of its contents
It all started when I was looking for something to keep me sane when recovering from surgery and was bed bound (well, sofa bound if I’m honest) and not allowed to lower my foot to the ground. I needed to do something creative to keep my mind active
That’s when I got my hands on some Hama beads to make some little creations. Some of my friends saw them and said they looked really cool. They started to ask me to make things for them including some inspired by boardgames (another big hobby of mine) and offered to pay for them. A few even agreed that it would make a good business!
The problem was, no offense to Hama, they’re a kids toy and although I could make some pretty cool pictures, they were fairly amateurish in their finish. Now, me being the perfectionist I am, if I was going to sell something, it would have to be of a quality I would buy myself. And so began the journey of researching different companies and fusing techniques until I reached the finished product you can see across my site
